Port Oneida is an historic farming community representative of a typical turn-of-the century farm of the upper Great Lakes region of Michigan. First settled in 1852, and now a National Register of Historic Places, it has significance for its agriculture, ethic heritage, and preservation efforts.
The largest historic agricultural community in the United States, this community known as Port Oneida has historic 22 farmsteads, schoolhouses, cemeteries, barns, milk houses, and sugar shacks spread out over 3,400 acres.
